VIDs, PIDs, and Firmware: Design Decisions When Using TI USB Device Controllers
1,020 views
System designers using TI USB controller devices must make certain design decisions involving the vendor ID (VID) and product ID (PID) of the USB device and the location of firmware. If these are not configured properly, the device will not be enumerated correctly by the USB host.
This document discusses how these are handled within a system using one of the TI USB device controllers. These controllers include TUSB2136, TUSB3210, TUSB3410, TUSB5052, and TUSB6250. The document is intended as an overview of thses subjects. On reading it, the system designer should possess enough knowledge to make these decisions and know where to obtain trhe information necessary to implement the chosen scheme.
