Foundation Announces New President
DALLAS
(August 18, 2003) - The Texas Instruments Foundation has announced
the appointment of Jack E. Swindle as president, replacing Liston
Michael Rice Jr. who will retire and move to the role of chairman
emeritus.
“Mike’s contributions and leadership to the Foundation
are too great to be measured. He was the driving force behind many
of TI’s flagship accomplishments including the early childhood
model that is now a nationwide template for reading success,”
said Tom Engibous, TI president, chairman and CEO and member of
the TI Foundation board. “By combining the legacy that Mike
leaves with Jack’s experience and abilities, we are assuring
the continued presence and leadership of the TI Foundation.”
Mr. Swindle had a 40-year career with TI and retired in 2001 as
a senior vice president. During that time, he was an active member
of the community holding various board positions. In particular,
Mr. Swindle has been an avid participant in education initiatives
including the Mi Escuelita board of directors and workforce committees
of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Greater Dallas
Chamber of Commerce and North Texas Commission.
Mr. Swindle was commissioned as a member of the Texas Science and
Technology Council in 1998 by then Governor George Bush. He served
for two years. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University
with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering.
