Dallas Center for the Performing Arts – a $5 million grant to build a concert hall in the new Performing Arts Center in the arts district of downtown Dallas named after Margaret McDermott, wife of TI founder Eugene McDermott

University of North Texas Dallas Campus – two major grants, the first grant of $300,000 was in support of the completion of the south Dallas campus, and a second for $1.1 million to establish the TI Math Scholars program to encourage students to seek bachelor’s degrees and teaching certificates in math
Recipients must agree to teach in a Dallas-area school district for a minimum of two years.

Visiting Nurse Association – a $250,000 grant toward building the Patrick and Beatrice Haggerty Building to replace the organization’s previous structure, made in honor of one of TI’s founding fathers and the company’s 75th anniversary

Destination Graduation – a yearly pledge of $125,000 to the United Way of Dallas for this innovative program designed to improve high school graduation rates through parental involvement, college preparation and mentoring

Advanced Placement Program – a commitment to continue the advanced placement (AP) incentive program with the Dallas Independent School District, a program that encourages students to take more rigorous college-level course work in high school and incentivizes both teachers and students for their successes
The total investment to date of this grant exceeds $5 Million.

Rising Star Scholarships – awarded ($1 million) to the Dallas County Community College District that guarantees a two-year education to any student graduating in the top 40 percent of his or her class from a Dallas County high school and showing a financial need
Many of the recipients are the first members of their families to attend college. A second grant of $500,000 for helping with tuition and books was also provided.

Infinity Project – major grant to help expand program that brings advanced technology and engineering coursework into the high school, helping prepare today’s students for interest and careers in engineering
To date, the Foundation has committed $1 million dollars to this program.

TexPREP – invested $310,000 for Texas Pre-Engineering Program, or TexPREP, an academic mathematics based summer program serving students in middle and high school in the Dallas school district, in collaboration with SMU and other campuses of the Dallas County Community College District

Dallas Symphony Orchestra – a recent pledge of $500,000 to fund future guest soloists and artists, which adds to TI’s long relationship and support of the Symphony

Dallas Arboretum - $100,000 toward the construction of a Children’s Exploration Garden to help children understand the importance of environment, water, energy and the protection of natural resources

Dallas Museum of Art – $100,000 for the Center for Creative Connections, specifically for technology infrastructure necessary to 1) create and sustain a museum-wide wireless learning environment, and 2) enable innovative use of educational technologies such as computer-based intergenerational programming in the new Technology Lab

Advanced Placement Summer Camp – a $42,500 grant targeting high school girls enrolled in their first physics class to increase confidence with physics concepts and equipment before entering the classroom

Women’s Museum –a $125,000 grant to help create the 2010 strategic plan adding to TI’s long time support of this organization since its inception

Dallas Achieves - a $1 million gift toward a partnership with Dallas ISD to create improved education alignment to prepare students for college and the workforce
