Engibous recalls the day Kilby came to his office in 2000 after receiving the Nobel Prize: “He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small object that was wrapped in a piece of tissue with his name neatly printed on it. He said, ‘This is for TI.’ I opened the package and there was the gold Nobel Prize medal. It was at a time like that that you can’t think of what to say.
