Videos

This video collection describes the genesis of Kilby’s invention and its long footprint, chronicles the man’s Nobel ceremonies, and provides touching recollections of Kilby, his achievements and humble nature by former colleagues, including past TI CEO and Chairman Tom Engibous.

Engibous recalls the day Kilby came to his office in 2000 after receiving the Nobel Prize: “He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small object that was wrapped in a piece of tissue with his name neatly printed on it. He said, ‘This is for TI.’ I opened the package and there was the gold Nobel Prize medal. It was at a time like that that you can’t think of what to say. But the bottom line is, that was Jack.”

Individual interviews in the mid-90s with Kilby, engineer Harvey Cragon and Willis Adcock who, as head of Research and Development for the Semiconductor division, hired Kilby.
The three reflect on their roles in the creation of the integrated circuit and how they addressed the industry’s initial skepticism of its potential.
