Corporate Citizenship Report

Overview

In 2010, we delivered record operating profit of $4.5 billion, a record operating margin of 32 percent and a record return on invested capital of 31 percent. We also planned for the future. We continued to expand our analog manufacturing capacity through the acquisitions of wafer fabrication facilities in Japan and China, and the purchase and installation of additional analog wafer manufacturing equipment, to be used primarily in our Richardson, Texas, fab. In total, the equipment and factories, purchased at discounted prices since late 2009, will support more than $5 billion of total additional revenue once fully operational.
Our employee force began to grow in tandem with these changes. Meanwhile, our commitment to operating with integrity, supporting neighboring communities, and caring for the environment never wavered. TI and the TI Foundation contributed more than $16.6 million to support K-12 and university science, technology, engineering and math engagement programs; invested $5.2 million in local arts and culture initiatives; and also gave more than $3.1 million to support health and human services. TI also gave $2.4 million of in-kind donations cumulatively to education, arts and culture, as well as health and human service organizations. Additionally, TI employees supported local organizations through their time, leadership and contributions.

Despite increasing manufacturing capacity, we also continued our efforts to reduce energy and water use and reduce waste through conservation and efficiency in all aspects of our operations.
