Education support

TI recognizes that supporting education today is critical to the success of our company and neighboring communities tomorrow. Not only do high-tech companies need technologically skilled people, but every nation needs a strong workforce and business leaders to innovate and prosper.

Our commitment to education dates back to our company’s founders and is still our highest philanthropic priority. We are working to build an ecosystem of innovation by supporting student achievement; teacher effectiveness; and diversity in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, in addition to basic education access in some non-U.S. locations. In the U.S., we actively advocate at the local, state and national levels for legislation to improve STEM education, assessment and accountability, and we support a range of initiatives at all points in the education pipeline.

In the past five years alone, TI and the TI Foundation have invested more than $150 million to support education. Higher education has received about 80 percent of these funds, with approximately 70 percent of that investment focused on research. In addition, employee volunteer hours, equipment donations and in-kind contributions significantly extend the impact of this commitment.

Our investment objectives are to:
  • Impact the most students and improve performance and retention in STEM.
  • Increase the number of qualified math and science teachers to continue growing the pipeline of students in STEM.
  • Expand educational opportunities and attract more underrepresented women and minorities to engineering.
  • Improve access to education (non-U.S. sites).
  • Support research at universities.
  • Expose students to our technology.
  • Engage students in design competitions, ultimately recruiting the best talent.
We believe this investment will drive the development of the next generation of business leaders and in turn the creation of new, life-changing technologies. By educating students and giving them access to the latest technology, TI helps bring their innovations to reality.
