Corporate Citizenship Report

2008 performance

In 2008, TI set a new standard for our company and our suppliers by requiring third-party certification of minority- and women-owned business enterprise (MWBE) status. By doing so, we can ensure the credibility of our MWBE metrics and proper engagement with qualified MWBE suppliers.

Minority and women business development For the year, TI achieved a level of 4.82 percent of our total U.S. procurement dollars in direct spend with certified minority- and woman-owned suppliers, exceeding our goal of 4 percent. Direct spending with MWBEs totaled $169.1 million, and TI's major non-MWBE suppliers reported $21.5 million in direct sub-tier purchases from firms operated by minorities and women. Currently, TI does not track global spending with MWBE suppliers. To learn more about TI's progress in economic inclusion of MWBEs, read our Economic Inclusion annual reports.

In 2009, our goal is to spend at least 4.5 percent of U.S. procurement dollars with certified MWBE suppliers. Although we expect overall spending on goods and services to drop due to global economic conditions, we hope to maintain the progress we made supporting MWBEs this year.
