Community service does not end when our employees retire. In 1999, 50 TI retirees saw a need to continue communications, education and community involvement among former employees and subsequently formed the TI Alumni Association (TIAA). Today, the organization has more than 2,500 members.
These former employees, primarily Dallas-based, stay connected to our company and serve as a resource for communications, networking, health care and benefits education. More importantly, the TIAA includes community service in its mission. Members share business and process management expertise and donate countless hours of their time to charitable, civic and educational causes.
In 2010, TIAA:
Formed a Community Involvement Team, which organized 10 volunteer activities. Nearly 150 retirees participated.
Hosted its second annual United Way campaign, which raised $89,000.
Raised more than $20,000 in its 11th annual Charity Golf Tournament. Proceeds benefitted The Senior Source, which serves older residents in the greater Dallas area.
Next year, TIAA plans to revisit its strategy and goals given the dwindling number of new retirees and update its website.
