| Safety is integral to our success. In our drive toward
zero work-related injuries and illness, we have virtually
eliminated all serious injuries. It’s also why we lead the
U.S. semiconductor industry with the lowest occupational injury
and illness.
Collaboration and sound processes are at the heart of our
outstanding safety records. We have active Safety Committees
led by top managers at each site and involve employees at
all levels.
All of our sites globally operate under a comprehensive set
of Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) Policy and Principles
which set a high standard for performance and is endorsed
by our CEO, Rich Templeton. Compliance with these standards
is monitored through site-level audits and periodically examined
though corporate audits, which are reported to our board of
directors.
In addition, we recognize the International Standard on Environmental
Management Systems (ISO 14001), the European Union Environmental
Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and the Occupational Health
and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS18001) as tools that may
help individual sites meet TI environmental, safety and health
goals. These certifications may also help sites meet regional
standards and marketplace expectations.
All of our sites outside the U.S. hold current ISO14001 certificates.
In the U.S., especially in Texas and Arizona, sites are subject
to very stringent regulatory constraints that go far above
and beyond the stipulations of ISO140001 or OHSAS 18001. We
are working to achieve 100 percent certification at all TI
manufacturing sites by the end of 2008 in both ISO14001 and
OHSAS 18001.
