Diversity and inclusion
TI's journey to develop an inclusive environment began almost 20 years ago, when we recognized that a diverse, empowered work force would help us achieve a sustained competitive business advantage.
Diversity refers to the ways in which people differ. This includes obvious differences such as race and gender, and more subtle differences in religion and culture, as well as variations in work styles, thoughts and ideas.
For TI, an inclusive environment creates an atmosphere in which the contributions of teams and individuals – with different personal backgrounds, experiences and perspectives – are recognized and valued. An inclusive environment provides no artificial barriers to success; within it, employees worldwide can contribute and succeed.
The business case
TI created our diversity vision in 1989 to foster an environment that recognizes, understands, values and utilizes the unique skills and abilities of all employees. Since that time, we've realized many benefits that this type of work culture can offer: from improving retention and recruitment from all segments of our population, to increasing opportunities for individual growth, learning and excellence.
"At TI, we are committed to building a great company customers can count on – one where employees aspire to achieve the highest possible standards with regard to financial performance, ethical behavior, business execution and innovation. An inclusive environment is essential to that, where diversity thrives and every employee, no matter where they are and what job they hold, is fully engaged in TI's business success. I'm challenging myself and every TI employee to help make an inclusive environment a global reality at TI."
