It is critical to engage with new hires to teach them how TI operates, what we expect from them, and how we can best serve each other. This helps our company retain talent and boosts workplace satisfaction.
After piloting our eXceleration onboarding program in 2007-2008, TI has successfully rolled out the program to all new hires in the U.S. (with the exception of a population of non-exempt employees in our manufacturing area, who already have a customized onboarding program).
The eXceleration program pairs new employees with a supervisor and a “buddy,” who introduce them to our work culture and practices. The curriculum also explains the technical and interpersonal skills needed to be successful at TI.
Because supervisors are critical in new employee engagement, development, performance and retention, they schedule regular meetings with new hires to address questions and issues and to provide performance feedback.
In March 2010, TI made its eXceleration program available to new hires in Taiwan. We plan to launch eXceleration in Mexico, the Philippines and Malaysia in 2010.
