Recognition
Financial recognition | Individual and group recognition | Non-cash recognition
We discovered many years ago that when we acknowledge the value and commitment of our work force, TIers become better connected, engaged and aligned with our company. That, in turn, encourages our talent to stay with us.
TI has a global strategy in place to drive employee recognition at all levels of the company, which may take the form of a salary increase, performance bonus or stock options. It can also come in the form of a coffee mug, an iPod or a group dinner. And it can be as simple as a heartfelt "thank you" or "good job." TI even dedicated a work team, TI Recognition Services and Events (TIRSE), more than a decade ago to help managers and groups effectively celebrate employees' hard work and achievements.
Financial recognition
Our company compensates employees with market-competitive salaries. They have an opportunity to receive variable cash rewards based on company performance. We offer a profit-sharing plan that pays out when TI achieves a threshold level of profitability. Additionally, we provide various other bonus opportunities based on individual, organizational and company performance.
Individual and group recognition
Our managers are encouraged to notice and recognize the hard work of team members and individuals. We proactively work with them to recognize a group that has reached a key milestone or an individual who has added particular value to a project.
To help managers in their efforts, TIRSE partnered with TI's concierge service to provide recognition items, including gift cards to restaurants and retailers; customized apparel and plaques; logo-bearing products such as pens, clocks and water bottles; and group trips such as picnics, bowling parties and afternoons at the movies. Thanks to TIRSE, we have seen a higher percentage of managers take advantage of company resources and ideas to recognize staff.
Additionally, our business units around the globe annually thank and honor employees who have shown a long-term commitment to TI or provided tremendous value to our company and the communities in which we operate.
Non-cash recognition
Our recognition team regularly communicates the importance of thanking and congratulating employees for a job well done. The team periodically trains managers on small ways they can make a big difference, from sending an e-mail and copying the boss to offering their thanks in a staff meeting.
In 2008, TI continued our proactive engagement with all levels of management about the importance and consistency of employee recognition. We continued to invite suggestions from managers and employees alike about even more creative ways our company can make them feel valued.
