2011 performance
Results | Looking ahead
TI assessed the weight of materials purchased for direct use in semiconductor manufacturing operations for the first time in 2011. We purchased an estimated 6,399,497 kilograms of direct materials. This is a first step to establishing a baseline so we can better evaluate how efficiently we use the materials we purchase.
Through our efficient use of purchased materials and our waste-management program, we recycled approximately 92 percent of all of our waste globally.

*Estimate includes materials purchased to manufacture our semiconductors and are present in the final product.
**Includes protective overcoat, polyimide and polybenzoxazole (PO/PBO/PI) materials only, used in product packaging and encapsulation. TI Clark came online in 2009, which accounts in part for the increase in 2010. The 2010-2011 increase accounts for the ramp-up of TI Clark.
Looking ahead
In 2012, we will continue monitoring our purchase of direct materials and production demands to better understand our resource-use efficiency.
