Biodiversity
Our manufacturing and assembly and test operations are located in industrial, inner city or suburban areas, or in areas surrounded by agricultural farm lands. To our knowledge, none of our 17 sites impact legally protected land or areas of high biodiversity value, such as World Heritage sites or wetlands, nor are they surrounded by undisturbed forest or undeveloped land. However, we take great care through all of our environmental programs and processes to minimize or eliminate impact on all surrounding ecosystems.
Endangered and critically endangered and International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List species have been identified in the states or provinces where we have manufacturing operations, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Taiwan and Japan. However, it appears that these species are not in close proximity to our sites, which are generally located in heavily industrialized areas and do not impact areas with high biodiversity value.
TI generally does not have special prevention or remediation programs to protect and restore natural habitats, nor does it currently plan to do so.
However, our commitment to conscientious and environmentally responsible operations applies to all of our sites worldwide. Some sites may supplement and improve surrounding natural habitats by planting indigenous trees or participating in community cleanup events near our operations. These actions are part of our ongoing efforts to support and enhance the quality of life in our local communities.
We aim to minimize any negative impact on biodiversity and the wider environment. This includes promptly mitigating accidental leaks that have occurred in some industrial areas where TI historically used or stored solvents. We continue to contain, treat and monitor these areas to minimize any impact.
