Several TI Diversity Network groups helped raise money for the Red Cross fund during fundraiser events at various TI sites in the Dallas area.

In the wake of the massive March 11 earthquake in Japan, TI employees, retirees and the Texas Instruments Foundation sprang into action to help fund relief efforts, raising a total of $758,348 for the American Red Cross (ARC) Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Fund.

That figure includes a dollar-for-dollar match of employee and retiree donations by the TI Foundation. In addition, the TI Foundation made a $100,000 donation and TI's Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) Analog eLAB Business Group donated $1,500.

"The generous gifts from TI employees and retirees around the world express our genuine compassion for the people of Japan," said Ezra Penermon, director of Community Relations for TI.

"The matching gift from the TI Foundation was a tremendous way to augment the outpouring of support for a country where 2,100 fellow TI employees and their families live and work."

TI set up a microsite to make online donations easy to track and match.

TI's Miho and Aizu sites and its Tokyo offices were affected by the initial magnitude 8.9 earthquake, but no employee injuries were reported.

Initial production lines at Miho resumed in mid-April, and full production will resume in third quarter. TI's fab in Aizu has returned to full production.
