TI Clark, the Philippines, took part in a recent nationwide effort to prepare schools for the new school year, which started this month.
TIers, on-the-job trainees (OJTs) and partner suppliers gathered in late May to make chairs and undertake a major cleanup at the San Vicente Elementary School in Bamban, Tarlac.
TI is living up to its promise of building a better future, not only through its innovative products but also through its people who always are ready to lend their wide open arms to give hope and joy to others and to work together toward a brighter tomorrow, according to the Clark Community Involvement Team (aka Corporate Social Responsibility Council).
The camaraderie shown by TI volunteers, OJTs and partner suppliers at San Vicente basically is an example of the growing, leading and winning culture of TI Clark as it relates to volunteerism, the council said.
Faced with a tight schedule, 120 volunteers skipped their once-a-week rest day to participate in the Brigada Eskwela effort.
Even before the organized event, some employees had already volunteered their time to build tables and benches for San Vicente. The furniture now outfits vacant classrooms and gives children a comfortable place to study and work toward a brighter future.
As the saying by author Elizabeth Andrew goes, "Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart." This was apparent through the effort that everyone who participated in the CSR activity gave, embodying TI's mission and vision, the council said.
"We at TI always believe that in everything we do, even through the simple act of kindness, we make an impact and we make a difference," said Kristine Mangaliag, TIPI Clark Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Council chairperson.
"It is only with the support of volunteers with passion and dedication that we are able to take up such a colossal service in the society."
Because of volunteers' selflessness and valuable contribution of time and energy, many children are happier and more comfortable to learn and work hard for a better future, she said. Moreover, the teachers are encouraged and energized knowing that others care and support them in the critical task of motivating the young people to love their school and pursue their education.
"We will continue to provide community involvement opportunities like this for which we need volunteer help, so please feel free to sign up for future events," Kristine said.
The CSR team said that TI grows not only its financial profit but also the great confidence of the people and the community where it operates.
"We lead by setting an example of how an ethical company with its ethical people are bound in knowing what is right, valuing what is right and doing what is right at all times," the council said. "And together with these strategies, we win."
