During the past 12 years, the members of Greenock's Community Care Team (CCT) in Scotland have donated more than $250,000 to approximately 800 charities across Inverclyde, United Kingdom.

The team's nine TI employees are Andrew K. Burns,Lynne Cannie, Martha Deeney, Deborah McCallum, Karen McGhee, Kay Murdoch, Krishnananda Nayak, George Robertson, and Alison Waters.

Together, the team has provided more than 50 years of volunteer service through the CCT.

"The CCT is focused primarily on education, health, sports and local community needs," Burns said.

"The team was set up to support the Greenock site's desire to be an asset in the community where it operates by being an active partner through providing employment, leadership contributions, volunteer time and donations."

A partner in the community
Over the last few years, the team has organized the following successful charity fundraising events.

  • A "Longest Day" 72-hole golf challenge during which three Greenock employees took part in playing all four local golf courses in one day. Together they raised $8,000 for Yorkhill Hospital, a local children's hospital.
  • Charity "cycle around an island." For three consecutive years, the CCT has cycled around a local island called Cumbrae. Through this 11-mile challenge, the team has raised approximately $6,000 for donation to different charities.
  • Four team members took part in a gardening challenge by helping to build an outdoor seating area for Quarriers, a charity that cares for children and adults with disabilities. The prize money raised through this challenge will be donated to Quarriers.

In addition to providing financial assistance to local groups, the team also raises awareness of specific local community causes.
