TI named a 2010 Working Mother best company, entered into Hall of Fame

For the 15th consecutive year, The Working Mother 100 Best Companies initiative has selected TI as one of the nation's top companies for family friendly benefits.

In addition to again being named a 2010 Working Mother 100 Best Company, reaching the 15-year milestone puts TI into the initiative's prestigious Hall of Fame. TI is one of only 29 companies to be inducted into this elite group.

"TI is dedicated to supporting employees with families through a range of initiatives," said Jennifer Owens, senior director of Working Mother Editorial Research & Initiatives.

"Some of these initiatives include the Practical Parent Education Network, available on site and online, and subsidized backup care and 10 percent discounts at child-care centers nationwide."

Making the grade
As the Working Mother 100 Best Companies continue to expand their benefits, those at companies nationwide lag. Just 44 percent of American companies offer telecommuting, 17 percent offer formal mentoring, and 37 percent offer health insurance for part-time employees.

In contrast, all 100 Best Companies offer paid maternity leave, lactation rooms, flextime, mental health consultations and elder-care resources. Ninety eight percent of these companies, including TI, also offer health screening and wellness programs.

"TI is pleased to be recognized for its efforts to provide our employees with high quality benefits that help them effectively manage their busy work and personal lives," said Steve Lyle, TI director of Diversity and Workforce Development.

"As a company, we are proud to lead the way in inspiring change and implementing diverse benefits that support a healthy and sustainable work-life balance."

Companies were selected for the 2010 Working Mother 100 Best Companies list based on an extensive application with more than 600 questions focused on workforce, compensation, child care, flexibility programs, leave policies and more.

For this year's 100 Best, particular weight was given to benefits, flexibility and parental leave.
