For the 16th consecutive year, The Working Mother 100 Best Companies initiative has named Texas Instruments one of the nation's top companies for family friendly benefits.
As one of the 2011 Working Mother 100 Best Companies, TI is being recognized for its flexible work arrangements, paid maternity leave and employee assistance programs.
"The Working Mother 100 Best Companies allow employees to flex their day, their week, their year and their career," said Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media. "This year's winning companies are proof that success lies in the numbers – 97 percent of companies are offering prenatal education, weight-loss, wellness and stress-reduction programs to employees at every level."
Kim Smith, 2012 chair of the TI Women's Initiative, believes the company's ongoing recognition as a top 100 Working Mother company is a testament to TI's commitment to ensuring its employees have the support, resources and tools they need to have well-rounded lives.
"TI gives women the opportunity to have a thriving career and a strong family," Smith said. "This recognition is truly a win-win for women and TI."
TI is one of only 26 Working Mother Hall of Fame companies, an honor bestowed on companies that have been included on the Working Mother 100 Best list for at least 15 years.
Flexibility matters
For TI employee Jennifer Kleman, who is the single mother of four young children, schedule flexibility is the key ingredient to her work-life success.
"Making any work-life balance successful involves figuring out what works for your individual lifestyle so you can truly add value to everything you do," Kleman said.
"I'm proud to work for a company that cares so much about its employees and empowers people to set examples, get creative and make a difference on an individual level."
Steve Lyle, TI's director of Diversity and Workforce Development, said TI is pleased to be recognized once again for its efforts to provide its employees meaningful work-life benefits.
"Our broad range of work-life programs is focused on helping employees effectively manage their busy work and personal lives," Lyle said. "In addition to providing high-impact programs today, we continually look at new elements to shape a workforce strategy for the future."
Top 100 companies
The Working Mother 100 Best Companies are judged on answers to 650 questions, including data on the access and usage of flexible work arrangements, parental leave, childcare, health and wellness support and the advancement of women to all levels of management.
Profiles of the 100 Best Companies, as well as national comparisons, are chronicled in the October issue of Working Mother magazine and at workingmother.com/bestcompanies.
