Innovation
Marcus-Allen G.
Engineering change in mobile processing
To Marcus-Alan, TI is the quintessential innovation enabler, driving into cost-sensitive markets to push innovation and allow technology deployment in a variety of places around the world, including those that may lack infrastructure. And he feels that this technology placement allows a distribution of knowledge and empowerment, and is both fulfilling and sustaining.
Marcus-Alan’s personal inspiration for innovation comes from both industry competitors and his colleagues. A competition that never ceases, along with incredibly hard-working TIers whom he never wants to let down, fuel his fire. He values working with a diverse group of individuals from different countries, conferences and forums that push the innovation envelope within TI. One such group he works with is the ground-breaking OMAP mobile platform team taking consumer electronic devices to a new level of graphics and processor performance.
Especially important in a time of doing more with less, Marcus-Alan is always finding creative ways of innovating. The most rewarding was his recent work on the very successful OMAP710 and OMAP850 baseband processors, where his team first experimented on power management techniques such as frequency scaling and static leakage management. Marcus-Alan reveled in the challenge of keeping things functioning while enabling full power management – he realized early in his career that power management optimization never ends.
TI’s innovations in the automotive market have recently piqued Marcus-Alan’s interests. He is fascinated by the endless possibilities of application integration, including Bluetooth, navigation, multi-zone climate control and entertainment systems, all led by TI sensor and power technologies.
