Innovation
Sourabh R.
Engineering change in sensor technology
Sourabh sees a smart, interconnected world in which we can prevent car accidents, predict the occurrence of disease and interact with things seamlessly. Every day he works toward this vision for the future. His position as team leader for sensor and biomedical systems R&D at Texas Instruments allows him to work on defining and perfecting low power sensor nodes to achieve his goal of a self-sustained sensor node that can operate on harvested or scavenged energy and that blends seamlessly into its environment
In fact, every project Sourabh works on contains an innovative aspect. He believes innovation is only possible if you are able to look at a problem in a different light. Being an innovator has a lot to do with the mindset. It’s not about solving one problem; it’s about learning the skills for solving any problem.
Sourabh says inspiration for the next great idea can emerge from simply talking over lunch at TI because of the company’s culture of sharing and open access to information. TI values the free flow of ideas as they are the essential ingredient for a creative work environment.
Sourabh is only able to consistently innovate by balancing his outside activities. Playing soccer and practicing Argentinian tango are just two of the ways Sourabh expresses himself. Perhaps someday Sourabh will be able to bring TI’s sensing technology to tango and soccer. The opportunities with sensing technology are endless, and Sourabh and his R&D team are consistently looking into future markets and discovering ways to make that smart world a reality.
“Ideas for innovation can come from anywhere. You just have to be on the lookout” |
