Air Liquide America Acquires Texas Instruments Chemical Operations

Houston, Texas (April 4, 1997) - Air Liquide America Corporation announced today that it has reached an agreement with Texas Instruments (TI) to purchase its Chemical Operations Department. Terms were not disclosed and subject to federal approval, closing is expected by the end of April.

"This acquisition builds on the current successful partnership between Air Liquide America and Texas Instruments by bringing together needed gases, chemicals and service capabilities. It not only strengthens our ability to serve TI as Air Liquide's largest electronics customer worldwide, but gives them an opportunity to reduce costs," said Patrick Verschelde, President and CEO, Air Liquide America. "As a customer-driven organization providing creative solutions through differentiated products and services, this agreement is consistent with our commitment to being a stronger service provider to TI."

At the completion of the transaction, approximately 200 TI employees will transition to Air Liquide.
