Bluetooth low energy
The Bluetooth low energy solution is based on Bluetooth 4.0 specification with Human Interface Device (HID over GATT) as the standard profile for application interoperability. Devices types include Bluetooth SMART Ready (dual-mode) and Bluetooth SMART (Bluetooth low energy, single-mode). If you want to connect to a Bluetooth Smart Ready device, you should choose Bluetooth low energy as your remote control technology.

ZigBee RF4CE
ZigBee RF4CE is based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard and the ZigBee RF4CE specification. The RF4CE standard is based on star network topology with inter-network communication. ZigBee RF4CE is a low-latency, battery friendly and easy-to-use standard developed specifically for remote controllers. ZigBee mesh networks, such as Home automation, Smart Energy or Smart Lighting, is based on the same IEEE 802.15.4 standard, which enables a combination of the standard to create a whole home standard based networking solution.
