How to Get Free ICs and Evaluation Modules

Just so you don’t get confused, let us say this up front: The process for getting free analog ICs from TI is completely different from the process for getting free evaluation modules. The reason for the difference is that we typically provide free samples of ICs, but we do not usually give out evaluation modules for free. That’s why you need a coupon code to order them. Here are instructions for getting all the free silicon you need to complete your project.

Free ICs
We have a broad portfolio of high-performance analog ICs and want you to have easy access to the chips you need. You can order chips free through our sampling program.

Here's how:

  • Go to www.ti.com
  • In the "Find Products" section, choose the product area of interest.
  • Then find your device using the product tree on the left or the quick search tool in the middle.
  • When you have selected an IC, click on "Samples". Select any product designated as a free sample.
  • Click on "Request Free Samples." (The first time you order, you'll have to register with our my.TI system.)
  • You can order up to 8 line items and up to 5 of each item. Shipping is free.
  • Keep in mind that not every device is available for sampling, and you will find that some items available for sampling are back-ordered. If you need a device that is not available for sampling, try to select another that is. If you absolutely must have the particular part that is not available, email us. We can’t guarantee that we can get it for you, but we’ll try.

Free Analog & MSP430 Evaluation Modules
When you enter the Analog Design Contest, you will receive a code for $200 worth of TI analog Evaluation Modules (EVMs).

Here’s how you use the code:

  1. Go to www.ti-estore.com.
  2. Shop as you would on any other e-commerce site.
  3. When you’ve filled your shopping cart, go to checkout.
  4. On the checkout page, you will see a box towards the bottom on the left that says “Coupon.” Type in your coupon code (be sure to follow casing exactly) and click “Redeem Coupon.”
  5. The coupon will only work once. That is, if you order $50 worth of stuff, then come back the next day to order another $150, the e-store won’t accept the coupon even though there’s money left on it. Try to order the full $200 worth at the same time. If you absolutely must have some things before you order others, email us and we’ll try to get it taken care of.

Our e-store is better at selling things than it is at giving stuff away, and we’ve had a few problems crop up. For example, most of the time it will ask for a credit card number, even though it has accepted the coupon code. It won’t charge the card, however, as long as you’re within the $200 limit. If you have any problems ordering, email us and we’ll help you through the process.

Note: You will not be able to order DSP or OMAP processor EVMs using the coupon. If you plan to use one of these processors in your project, email us and we’ll get you what you need.
