In
June 2003, Texas Instruments announced it had selected a site
for its next major semiconductor manufacturing plant. TI broke
ground November 2004 on the facility, which will house some
of the world's most advanced 300 mm (12-inch) wafer manufacturing
capability.

TI's newest manufacturing site is in
Richardson, Texas, near TI's headquarters in Dallas.
TI looked at numerous locations around the world, but
selected Texas because of several reasons; homecourt
advantage and proximity to TI's existing headquarters,
a positive competitive environment and access to research
and development. This included a collaborative agreement
between the state, local government entities and the
University of Texas system to promote the North Texas
region's technological future by boosting funding for
engineering and research programs at the University
of Texas at Dallas. |
