TI Ventures is a venture capital fund established in 1996 by TI and Granite Ventures (formerly H&Q Venture Associates) to invest in early-stage technology companies focused on DSP software and hardware applications in markets such as communications (wireless and wireline), networking, audio, video, storage, display, and IC power management.
As the sole limited partner in TI Ventures, TI contributes capital, deal flow and technical and market assessments. TI also develops working relationships with portfolio companies when appropriate and mutually beneficial. Granite Ventures serves as the general partner, with responsibility for managing the portfolio investments. With this unique structure, portfolio companies may benefit from TI's strategic insights and technical expertise as well as Granite's venture capital and company-building experience.
TI has committed a total of $160 million to this venture captial activity, all of which is under management with Granite. The fund typically makes initial investments of $1 million to $3 million in each portfolio company, with the expectation that each company will need a total of $4 million to $6 million from TI Ventures over the life of the investment. Granite Ventures is active as an investor and tries wherever possible to assist its portfolio companies by leveraging the considerable resources of both Granite and TI. |
