MSP430F5xx

MSP430F5xx TI has announced a breakthrough generation of ultra-low power MSP430 microcontrollers, offering the industry's lowest power consumption for devices that can provide up to 25-MHz peak performance, increased flash and RAM memory, and integrated peripherals such as RF, USB, encryption and LCD interfaces.

With active power consumption as low as
160-µA/MHz and 1.5 µA in standby, MSP430F5xx MCUs enable longer battery life and the ability to use either smaller batteries for portable applications or no batteries at all for energy-harvesting systems running off of solar power, vibration energy or human body temperature.

MSP430FE42x2

The MSP430FE42x2 series of microcontrollers are configured with two independent, 16-bit sigma-delta A/D converters and an embedded signal processor core used to measure and calculate single-phase energy in both two- and three-wire configurations. Also included is a built-in 16-bit timer, 128 LCD segment drive capability and 14 I/O pins.

Applications: Two and three-wire single-phase metering
Package: 64-pin QFP
Price: $2.95-$3.15 (1k unit price)
Recommended Development Tool:
MSP-FET430U64

CorelisCAS-1000-I2C – I²C bus monitor, analyzer, exerciser, debugger and tester
The CAS-1000-I2C is an advanced instrument used in the monitoring and testing of devices and systems incorporating one or more I²C buses. The CAS-1000-I2C can monitor in real time and log I²C bus traffic; generate I²C traffic to exercise the bus and communicate to its components; program in-system EEPROMs in I²C; validate bus specification compliance; confirm I²C protocol of bus traffic; and emulate I²C-compatible devices that are not yet physically connected to the bus. It further complies with the System Management Bus (SMBus) standard variant. The CAS-1000-I2C also includes a JTAG controller that, when used with Corelis' optional ScanExpress software, can perform boundary scan interconnect testing and in-system programming of flash memories and CPLDs.
