TI recognizes employees and top suppliers that support minority- and women-owned businesses
TI Vice President Worldwide Facilities Shaunna Black (center) received the Executive Leadership Award. This award is presented annually to a TI executive for exemplary leadership and support of TI's minority- and women-owned business development initiative. Presenting the award are TI President & CEO, Rich Templeton, (left) and TI Vice President Worldwide Procurement & Logistics, Rob Simpson.
TI recently named five suppliers Gold Partners and one a Silver Partner for outstanding use of minority- and women-owned enterprises (MWBEs) that contribute to the success of TI and its customers.

The company also recognized a number of employees, both individuals and teams for growing the business of incumbent MWBE suppliers or providing business opportunities to new suppliers in 2007.

TI's initiative filters through non-MWBE suppliers
In 2007, TI awarded $190 million in contracts to minority- and women-owned businesses, while TI's major non-MWBE suppliers recorded $18 million in purchases directly related to TI business from firms operated by women and minorities. The Gold and Silver Partners are among those suppliers.

"We're very proud of our partners and our employees, and we appreciate the value they continue to deliver," said Rich Templeton, TI chairman, president and CEO. "It's part of TI’s culture, though, that we’re constantly striving to improve on excellence."

"In 2007 we set a new standard for ourselves and our suppliers by requiring third-party certification of MWBE status," he added. "As we continue to grow globally, we'll continue to make these initiatives a priority."

The 2007 TI Gold Partners included Air Liquide, Cadence Design Systems, DFW Test, Millennium Circuits and Volt Services Group. Automated Circuit Design was recognized as a Silver Partner.

Gold Partners were those who reported more than $1 million in spending with MWBEs directly related to their business with TI. Silver Partners were those who reported $500,000-$999,000 in spending with MWBEs directly related to their business with TI.

Internal champions
TI also recognized 14 employees from Worldwide Procurement & Logistics, four individual internal champions, and four internal champion teams from the Technology & Manufacturing Group, Worldwide Facilities, Information Technology and High-Performance Analog.

Shaunna Black, TI vice president of Worldwide Facilities, received the Executive Leadership Award for her commitment to making the development of MWBE partnerships a high priority and a business imperative.

"The company firmly believes that its investment in minority and women business development gives TI a distinct competitive advantage in its operations and that it's the right thing to do to make the community stronger," Black said.

"Since 1991, TI has honored outstanding efforts by its suppliers and employees who increase business opportunities with MWBEs. This recognition communicates TI's standards and expectations to our suppliers and employees who are helping solve problems integral to customer success," said Shannon Suber, TI's director of minority and women business development. "They help us achieve our goal of building a strong minority and women supplier base, which in turn increases the breadth and depth of available vendors, creates more competition, provides a greater selection of service providers, adds jobs and strengthens the local economy."
