Mugdha GadkariThroughout the year, TI employees everywhere donate their time and talents to make their communities better places to live. The company recognized those efforts recently to encourage worldwide volunteerism.

"TI has had a long tradition of employees giving back through community service, and in tough economic times, our communities need volunteers more than ever," said Trisha Cunningham, TI worldwide director of corporate citizenship.

TI encourages employees to engage in the community

TI employees and their families learned about a variety of Asian cultures during TI Family Activity Day at the Crow Collection of Asian Art.

TI encourages its employees to take part in the communities where they live and work. Besides volunteering, many are actively involved in sharing cultures, enjoying music and art, learning about nature, and experiencing the many other assets their cities offer.

"We know it's important that employees and their families have rich lives outside of work," said Andy Smith, director of corporate philanthropy for TI. "If you enjoy your job and like where you live and work, you're going to be happier in every area of your life. So we look for opportunities to connect TI employees with our community partners."

Texas Instruments awards Junkins Scholarships to largest group ever

TI chairman, president and CEO, Rich Templeton, recognized 35 recipients of the National Merit Jerry R. Junkins Memorial Scholarship at a luncheon recently at the company's headquarters in Dallas.TI chairman, president and CEO, Rich Templeton, recognized 35 recipients of the National Merit Jerry R. Junkins Memorial Scholarship at a luncheon recently at the company's headquarters in Dallas.

The Junkins Scholarships, named in honor of TI's former chairman, president and CEO, are awarded to National Merit® Scholarship Program finalists who are sons or daughters of active, retired or deceased TI employees. This year's scholars represent the largest group since TI began awarding the scholarships in 1996.

TI and SMU partner to help students explore science and technology

The one-day event brings together students, working engineers, innovators, and noted national figures from a variety of industries and businesses to celebrate the ways engineering makes a difference in the world.

Women of TI Fund exceeds $500,000 fundraising milestone

Each summer, The Women of TI Fund sponsors AP Physics Camps for girls, which demonstrate via interactive and hands on activities that science can be fun and interesting.Eight years after several senior TI women executives pooled their personal resources and formed a donor-advised fund at the Dallas Women's Foundation, the Women of TI Fund has exceeded its long-term $500,000 fundraising goal.

"Reaching this milestone definitely calls for celebration," said Melendy Lovett, a Fund founder and TI senior vice president and president of TI's Education Technology business. "Our efforts are making a real difference in the lives of young girls, and we are seeing them pursue dreams that they never thought were possible."

TI recognized among best corporate citizens and most ethical companies

2009 World's Most Ethical CompaniesTwo organizations recently recognized TI as a leader in corporate social responsibility.

Ethisphere Magazine selected TI for its list of the World's Most Ethical Companies for the third consecutive year. The list recognizes organizations across 35 industries that promote ethical business standards and practices by going beyond legal minimums, introducing innovative ideas benefiting the public and encouraging their competitors to follow suit.

Earth Day inspires TI employees to clean up nearby park

TI employees Tami Galloway and Rick Joosten pick up trash in Cottonwood Park.Dallas-area TI employees celebrated Earth Day this year by participating in the 15th annual Cottonwood Park Cleanup. Cottonwood Park is a valuable asset for TI's neighboring Dallas and Richardson communities – particularly for the hundreds who visit it for after-school and summertime programs designed especially for underprivileged and at-risk kids.

Nearly 40 TI employees, family and friends, along with residents and community leaders, took part in the cleanup, which was hosted by Keep Dallas Beautiful (KDB) and sponsored by TI. Volunteers removed grocery carts from the park's creek as well as many bags of debris. Volunteers also filled bags with recyclable items, including glass bottles and paper.
