Product Status TI has essentially completed an assessment of the Year 2000 readiness of its products and determined that most of its products can be designated as either requiring customer assessment or having no date logic functions. The assessment does not include discontinued, obsolete or divested products. The information should be considered in connection with the explanatory comments on this web site, our legal information and statement of customer responsibilities, as well as all customer notices.
Product Status Codes We have created the following product codes to inform you at a glance of TI product status. GREEN for Year 2000 Ready indicates the TI product is capable of date logic functions and is Year 2000 Ready. GRAY for No Date Logic indicates the TI product is incapable of date logic functions. RED for NOT Year 2000 Ready indicates the TI product is Not Year 2000 Ready. See the "Comments and Corrective Actions" on that product description for more information. MAROON for Customer Assessment Required indicates the customer needs to evaluate the product in its entirety to assess its Year 2000 readiness. It has come to our attention that one of the tools commonly used with TIDSS 4.2 (Mentor EDDM B.4) has not been reported by the vendor to be Y2K Ready. The vendor reports that a later release is Y2K Ready (Mentor EDDM C.2). TI's TImePilot 1.0 can be used with Mentor EDDM C.2. However, TI does not plan to upgrade TIDSS 4.2 for Mentor EDDM C.2 support and encourages TI customers who are using Mentor EDDM tools to migrate from TIDSS 4.2 to TImePilot 1.0.
YELLOW for In Assessment indicates the TI product is in assessment or will be assessed for Year 2000 readiness.
BLUE for Not Assessed indicates the TI product is not being assessed for Year 2000 readiness. This does not imply that the product is either Not Year 2000 Ready or is Year 2000 Ready. See the "Comments" section of that product's description for more information.
Semiconductor Products
TI has essentially completed an assessment of the Year 2000 status of its Semiconductor products. This effort includes semiconductor devices sold within the past five years. Most of these products have been determined to either require customer assessment or have no date logic functions. A searchable database enables TI customers to display the Year 2000 status of Semiconductor products.
Note that the status of DSP and microcontroller application-software development products were assessed earlier in 1998 and are already displayed in a separate Status Chart.

Materials & Controls Products
TI has assessed the Year 2000 readiness of its Materials & Controls products and determined that these products contain No Date Logic Digital Light Processing Products
TI has assessed the Year 2000 readiness of its Digital Imaging business products and determined that these products contain No Date Logic functions. Note that demonstration units have not and will not be assessed. Refer to Legal Information.
TI's Digital Imaging business products are Digital Light Processing (DLP) components and subsystems. TI's DLP customers are end equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or customers of authorized TI distributors, all of whom are independent of TI. OEMs integrate TI's DLP technology in end-user products and are responsible for assessing the Year 2000 readiness of any software, firmware, hardware or other elements they may add or integrate with TI's DLP products. Special Customer Notices We see no likelihood that this issue would impact customer applications.
Customer Notice for Sellers and Users of TI DSP or Microcontroller Development Tools Containing C Runtime Libraries Unrelated to Year 2000 issues, we are also advising our customers of the possibility of a display error for development tools that use 16-bit integer architecture, such as TMS370 (microcontroller) or C54x (DSP). This is due to the way 16-bit integer dates are interpreted in the local time function in the C runtime libraries. Affected functions include but are not necessarily limited to localtime( ), gmtime( ) and ctime( ). This does not affect 32-bit architectures, such as the TMS470 (microcontroller) or C6000 (DSP) family.
Based on classic use patterns, we believe these functions would be rarely used, if at all. Furthermore, we have received no reports of problems from our customers.
Although these are only date display issues and not date-based calculation or comparison operations, we recommend, as a precaution, that customers avoid using these date and time functions until they have installed the available corrective patches. Status Charts show the products for which corrective software patches are available. Patches can be downloaded from the web site.
Also, customers should examine software code or application programs that may have been created using TI DSP or Microcontroller Application-Software Development Tools identified as Not Year 2000 Ready in order to ascertain whether they have Y2K or other date-related issues that may impact end-user applications.
Customer Notice for Sellers and Users of Certain Amati Products OmniPath Ksaver Workstation is a software program designed to emulate an interface to the IBM 3270 mainframe system. Amati stopped supporting this product approximately five years ago. TI has become aware of a Year 2000 issue concerning the program that it wishes to communicate to Amati customers. Specifically, the program contains a feature called "Command Line Interpreter" (CLI) that permits the user to select a date command that will default to a two-digit year date unless the user has specified otherwise. Because of the age of the platform (MS-DOS) and changes in the 3270 host-access technology since this product was released, TI believes it is highly unlikely that the CLI is still in use. However, TI urges all users of OmniPath Ksaver Workstation to check carefully whether they are using the CLI and, if so, to discontinue use of any
date command that is set at two-digit year date. TI also urges all value-added resellers and distributors of OmniPath Ksaver Workstation to communicate this same advice to their customers and licensees. Continued use of a CLI date command with a two-digit date could result in malfunction of the interface and system disruption.
TI has the following additional comments for users and sellers of Amati products:
1) Certain Amati products are used with mainframe systems (not manufactured by TI or Amati) that may not be Year 2000 Ready. Customers are advised to check all Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that interact with Amati products to confirm that they are Year 2000 Ready. Value-added resellers and distributors of Amati products are urged to check any APIs they created and communicate any Year 2000 problems to their customers and licensees. Users who obtained Amati products from a reseller or distributor are urged to ask the supplier about the Year 2000 readiness of APIs. Customers are also advised to check any code that they have developed using the OmniBASIC language included with the Amati OmniPathFor Windows software to ensure that it is Year 2000 Ready. Please note that OmniPath For Windows Version 2.2 and
higher was released with a macro language (OmniBASIC) which allowed the user to use a two- or four-digit year. (The four-digit year was the default.) Among other issues, customers should consider whether they used a two-digit year in code they generated using OmniPath.
2) TI wishes to alert Amati customers to a Year 2000 issue concerning the SNMPc software product, version 4.0, of Castle Rock Computing, Inc. ("Castle Rock"). Customers may be using this product (together with Amati's Allegro Node Manager for SNMPc, a software "overlay" supplied by Amati) to perform supervisory functions in conjunction with Amati's Allegro ADSL products. Based on information supplied by Castle Rock, TI understands that the Castle Rock SNMPc version 4.0 is not ready for the Year 2000. Castle Rock states that it has issued a version 4.2.14 that is "Year 2000 Compliant." TI takes no responsibility for the Year 2000 ready status of Castle Rock products and has not verified these statements of Castle Rock. Customers should consult Castle Rock for further information (http://crc.castlerock.com)

If customers plan to continue to use these products, they should first assess for themselves that these products either perform no date logic operations or are Year 2000 Ready.
