Motor Resistance

For a wye-connected motor, the motor phase resistance refers to the resistance from the phase output to the center tap, RPH (denoted as RPH in Figure 7-34). For a delta-connected motor, the motor phase resistance refers to the equivalent phase to center tap in the wye configuration in Figure 7-34.

For both the delta-connected and the wye-connected motor, the easy way to get the equivalent RPH is to measure the resistance between two phase terminals (RPH_PH), and then divide this value by two, RPH = ½ RPH_PH. In wye-connected motor, if user has access to center tap (CT), RPH can also be measured between center tap (CT) and phase terminal.

Configure the motor resistance (RPH) to a nearest value from Table 7-2.
