3.6 Conventions for Compiler Helper Functions

The ABI specifies helper functions that the compiler uses to implement language features. Generally, these functions adhere to the standard calling conventions, but an exception is made for a handful of them to enable better performance. See Section 8.3 for helper functions that use modified conventions.
