Getting Started

TMS320C2000™ digital signal controllers provide the ultimate combination of MCU integration and ease-of-use with the performance and system cost benefits of TI’s industry-leading digital signal processing (DSP) technology.

The TMS320F2801, F2806 and F2808 controllers integrate a complete set of control system capabilities - pulse width modulation (PWM) generation, time stamping, sensor capture, analog-to-digital conversion, communication interfaces, and program and data storage - into a single device, reducing system cost, board space and system complexity. The controllers also offer an improved suite of peripheral features and modes with specific application uses and benefits and a redesigned, highly accurate, 16-channel, 12- bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC).

Designers can start development today with the F2808 eZdsp Starter Kit. This kit includes an F2808 eZdsp board with the TMX320F2808PZA™ device in socket. This allows for easy replacement of silicon due to damage, accidentally locking the flash, or revision changes. The board connects easily to a PC using a USB connection and has onboard embedded JTAG emulation for realtime debug. Other features include a 256K-bit EEPROM in socket, two SCI transceivers (one pinned out to 9-pin DSUB), and two CAN transceivers (one pinned out to 9-pin DSUB). Development is accomplished using the included Code Composer Studio™ (CCStudio) Integrated Development Environment and a free 1-yr subscription (This version of CCStudio works only with the eZdsp board. Full versions of CCStudio are available for only $495).

TI also offers extensive free application specific software and signal processing libraries for virtually all motor types that allow designers to incorporate advanced features such as sensorless AC induction vector control, “current-shaped” switched-reluctance control and PMSM servo control. These software libraries can be seamlessly integrated within TI’s CCStudio integrated development environment to serve as fundamental building blocks for embedded control designs. Leveraging these modules enables you to develop complete control applications without writing optimized assembly language routines, reducing your time-to-market.

Samples are available only through your local distributor or TI Salesperson.
