Your final role

What do current Sales Engineers have to say about what your future job will be like?

1) What's a typical day like?
“Visiting customers, learning about their projects, applications, needs, problems and ideas. Understanding what the best opportunities are for TI, and fighting for them. You are responsible for orchestrating TI to fulfill customers’ needs, and you provide input to our internal product lines so that they can innovate, based on these needs.”

2) What makes your job exciting?
“It’s fun, it’s dynamic, it’s exciting. You get a huge perspective of the markets your customers are playing in, you get to learn about interesting ideas and innovations happening at their end, and you translate these ideas into TI; driving the company to serve and thrive on those markets. You are ‘the voice of the customer’ inside TI, and, as TI is focused on customers, your voice is focus.”

3) Why should someone studying engineering decide to go into sales?
“I’ve always loved engineering, and I enjoyed very much working as an engineer on a deeper technical level. I knew I had some strengths on the ‘communication’ and ‘strategic thinking‘ side. Being a social person who likes interacting with different people and being part of strategic decisions, I decided to take a career in sales. The sales job at TI has a broad spectrum, giving you the chance to add your own flavor whether you want to ‘go more technical’ or ‘go more business’.”
