![]() The ESIEE The ESIEE Group, a centre for advanced technical and scientific education and R&D, was set up in 1961 by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a public body to train engineers capable of adapting to the ever changing needs of today's industry. The ESIEE offers a five-year course in electronic engineering in the fields of microelectronics, robotics and control, computer science, telecommunications and signal processing. The ESIEE emphasizes a close and active collaboration with the world of industry: a quarter of the curricula is devoted to R & D project work under contract to industry. It also has an international orientation through exchanges and joint research activities with universities, research centres and industrial companies worldwide. The ESIEE has 1100 students and awards 230 degrees each year. The ESIEE has a faculty of 100 professors and researchers, and a staff of 130 technical and clerical employees. The 1998 European DSP Education & Research Conference attracted 199 delegates from Academia in 32 countries, making it one of the largest events in the Signal Processing calendar. TI's facilitation and support enabled the event to be free of charge to all Academics, and their feedback enthusiastically endorsed that TI should support the event again in 2000. This feedback also reinforced the comments of many delegates: that this event is the only one to place equal emphasis on both DSP teaching and research. From 20th to 22nd September we will return to the "ESIEE" in Noisy le Grand, just to the east of Paris for TI's third conference. This event promises to deliver more than ever:
