Build energy efficient industrial applications faster, more economically

TMS320F28235, TMS320F28234, and TMS320F28232 controllers provide fully compatible fixed- and floating-point options for high-end embedded control

Providing a time-to-market breakthrough for embedded control systems, TI announced the new TMS320F282x controllers – the first fixed-point digital signal controllers (DSCs) that are entirely compatible in hardware and software with high-performance floating-point DSCs. The new TMS320F282x series of DSCs combine the affordability of a fixed-point architecture with the faster software development inherent to floating-point devices. Floating-point algorithms that previously required significant recoding for fixed-point operation can now be recompiled in minutes to run on the F282x devices. The new DSCs bring savings in time to market and manufacturing costs, enabling developers to design energy efficient, less expense industrial applications such as servo controllers, automotive radar, solar inverters and wind turbines. World’s First Floating Point Digital Signal Controllers Enable "Greener" Industrial Applications

TMS320F2833x DSCs boost performance fifty percent and simplify software development for solar power and other applications.

Helping industrial control designers increase energy efficiency and system performance, TI announces the industry’s first floating point digital signal controllers. The new TMS320F2833x devices provide 300 million floating point instructions per second (MFLOPS) performance at 150 MHz while providing the lower costs typically associated with fixed point processors. When combined with simplified software development common to floating-point processors, this performance boost allows solar power inverters to more efficiently convert energy from photovoltaic (PV) panels, offers better power efficiency and performance to variable speed alternating current (AC) drives and provides greater performance for automotive radar applications. For more information on the new floating point F2833x controllers, see www.ti.com/f2833x.
