Does TI offer IC samples and how do I get access to order?

Yes, TI offers samples for over 20,000 active devices to design engineers to support new product designs and to qualify TI devices in existing designs. You can request these samples on our "Order Now" tab for that device; however, the list of available devices changes frequently as devices are added to and removed from the program.

Most TI devices are available in multiple packages and temperature options. The TI store offers some but not all of these options. If you need other options that are not available on the TI store, you can contact one the TI Authorized Semiconductor Distributors.

NEW!

If you are a first time user of the sample program, you will be required to request access for approval prior to placing your sample order.  You can review the process to request access here.

How do I order IC samples?

Once you have been approved to sample ICs, follow the instructions for "How do I place an order on the TI store?" For ICs, there will be a "Sample" button as well as a "Buy" button on the TI store product page.

*Note: If you are a first time user of the sample program, you will be required to request access for approval prior to placing your sample order.  You can review the process to request access here

What if the IC I need is not available as a sample?

If you need a TI device that is not available for sampling or for purchase from the TI Store, please contact one of the TI Authorized Semiconductor Distributors.

What do I do if I need more samples than the TI store sample limit?

Please contact a TI Authorized Distributor or TI Customer Support if you need further information.

Can I order IC samples as a university student?

At TI, we have a very deep commitment to investing in university programs that spans recruiting, helping professors develop coursework, literature, design contests, and many other activities. The sample program is designed for professional development activities, and therefore, we do not provide samples to universities. For student projects, we suggest purchasing devices from the TI store or any of the TI Authorized Semiconductor Distributors. The TI store can sell orders as small as one unit for your project.

Can I order IC Samples without a company domain email (i.e. my personal email or as a consultant)?

TI provides sample ICs to design engineers to support new product designs and to qualify TI devices in existing designs. Due to the high cost of a sample program like TI's, we require complete contact information using a corporate (.com) email domain as well as full shipping information. To order samples, please login to myTI and click on the login and password link to update your myTI profile to a corporate issued email address.

Can I request high-reliability or military IC samples?

We do not offer IC samples for high reliability devices intended for space, avionics, defense, or enhanced industrial applications from the TI store. Please contact a TI Authorized Distributor to request these devices and provide the required Certificate of Conformance.

Why does my TI store sample order require acceptance through email?

To ensure that customers receiving TI store samples understand TI store terms and conditions for orders placed by a TI representative, such orders must be reviewed and approved by the customer. The sample order is placed using the email address associated with the intended recipient’s myTI account. The customer receives an email asking them to click on a URL, login using their myTI account information, and either accept or reject the sample order placed on their behalf. If an order is not accepted or rejected, it will expire and be cancelled after 10 days.

Why am I required to provide my application and end equipment information?

The US Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls imposes upon exporters specific requirements that must be met prior to exporting goods. This includes requiring TI to know certain facts about how ICs, tools, and software will be used and by whom.

Why must I enter my address information in English for IC samples?

When purchasing tools and/or ICs, we are required to verify that the name, company, and address submitted are not
prohibited from shipment by the United States government. The systems used for validation require all names and addresses to be in English.

Can I place a backorder on the TI store?

In select cases, TI allows you to place backorders for tools and sample ICs. TI reserves the right to change this policy at any time. However, we do not accept backorders for purchased ICs. Orders are fulfilled First In First Out, so please do not cancel your old order and place a new one when you see the item is back in stock. If there is no date on your order status email or the Estimated Ship Date on your order status has passed, please contact TI Customer Support if you need further information.
