What’s new about the TI BOM & cross reference tool?

TI now offers a single tool that lets you submit and search for part information and potential equivalent TI cross reference parts. Part numbers may be submitted one at a time through the search bar, multiple at a time by creating a new list of parts using the “Create New List” button, or up to 5,000 at a time by uploading a file with your complete list of parts, or Bill of Materials (BOM) through the “Upload BOM” button.  This tool replaces the previous cross reference search tool on TI.com.

How do I search for part information and equivalent TI cross reference parts in the new tool?

There are three ways to search for part and cross reference information:  Single part search, “Create new list” of parts, and “Upload BOM”

Single part search – Simply enter a partial or full part number in the search bar on the main tool page, and click the “Search” button.  A new window will open where you may be asked to confirm the matched part you are looking for, and if available, see a list of equivalent TI crossed parts.  Part information and applicable purchase options for the chosen part will display on the main screen after you have made your selection.

Create new list – Clicking on the “Create new list” button will open a new window where you can name the list you’d like to create. Then the tool will open where you can manually enter a list of parts you’d like to add and see part information and potential crosses for, or if desired, you may also upload a BOM from this page by clicking the “Upload BOM” button.

Upload BOM – Clicking on the “Upload BOM” button from the main page or “Create new list” page, will open a new window where you can choose a file from your computer that contains a list of part numbers you’d like submit in the tool to see part information and potential crosses for.  Once you choose the file to upload, a new window will appear where you can confirm the BOM data and name the new list you uploaded.  Here you can also map any user specific columns from your BOM that you’d like to appear in the final results, such as customer part number, quantity, etc. Once completed, you simply click on “Save list” and the BOM tool will open and begin processing your list of parts, which will display in a list on the main screen.

What kind of parts can I search or submit online?

You can search/submit any part number from any manufacturer, but TI equivalent parts will only be displayed for non-TI parts that we have a cross reference match for in our database.  If we do not have a cross available, you will be notified. TI parts submitted in the tool will be displayed as-is in the search results, unless a newer/updated equivalent TI part is found, in which case, the newer part will be displayed. Parametric information, inventory, pricing, datasheet link, and other information for TI parts will also be displayed if available.

What part information is needed to perform a search or upload in the tool?

Only a partial or full manufacturer part number is required. However, providing a full orderable part number, may provide you with the best-matched cross reference results.

What if I’m not sure of the exact part number?

If you are not sure of the exact part number, enter as much of it as you know, and our tool will try to find any possible matches based on your entry. Sometimes, entering just the first few letters or numbers of the part may help.

Can I submit a TI part and see non-TI equivalent cross reference parts?

No. Non-TI equivalent cross reference parts are not available. TI parts submitted in the tool will be displayed as-is in the search results, unless a newer/updated equivalent TI part is found, in which case, the newer part will be displayed.

How can I add additional parts to my uploaded list of parts?

At the bottom of your list, there is an option to add a part number and quantity for any additional parts you wish to add to the existing list. Customer part number or any other user specific columns from your original upload are not available when adding new parts this way.

Can I purchase the parts I searched for, or uploaded to the tool?

Yes, you are able to purchase TI parts in your list, that were uploaded directly or a result of a cross, that are in stock and available from either the TI store or one of our authorized distributors. Only orderable TI part numbers may be available for purchase. Parts from other manufacturers are not available for purchase through this tool.

Why do I see a link to part category name instead of an equivalent TI cross reference part result for the part I searched/submitted?

In some cases, we may not have an equivalent TI cross reference part for the part that was searched/submitted, although the part was recognized as being a valid part in our database. When possible, we will provide a link to the product family page or parametric table page that matches the part category of the part that was searched/submitted. For instance, if the part searched was an Operational Amplifier, that we did not have an equivalent part for, then a link to our operational amplifier product family page will appear.  Here you will be able to research what TI part may fit your needs best.

Why does the tool show there is no part data or cross information available for the part I searched/submitted?

In some cases, the part searched/submitted may not be recognized by our database and therefore we are unable to provide any details about that part or provide an equivalent TI cross reference part for it.  Many times, this may occur if the part was entered incorrectly, or by mistake.

In other cases, the part entered may be recognized by our database and displayed in the tool, but it may not be a part we compete with or have an equivalent TI cross reference part for. 

Why isn’t the TI part shown in the tool available to purchase?

In some cases, there may not be an option to purchase a TI part listed in the tool. This may be because there is no inventory available at this time, or the part itself may not be an orderable part number, in which case you can search for orderable part numbers on the TI product folder for that part by clicking on the “View product information” link, in the tool. If we do not have an equivalent TI part for a submitted part number, we may also provide a link to the respective product family page or parametric search table. From here, if you find a part that fits your needs, you will be able to purchase it from either the TI store or one of our authorized distributors.

What do the different cross reference codes mean?

S – Direct replacement: The device is a direct replacement in functionality, parametrics, and pinout to the competitor's device.

Q – Same functionality and pinout: The device has the same functionality and pinout as the competitor's device but is not an exact equivalent.

P – Same functionality: The device has the same functionality to the competitor's device, but is not pinout compatible and/or parametrically equivalent.

F – Similar functionality: The device has similar functionality but is not functionally equivalent to the competitor's device.

How can I see parametric information for a part?

In the "Did you mean?"  window, where you can select the part you would like to see cross reference results for, you can view the parametric data for non-TI parts by clicking on the icon under the parametrics column.

In the cross reference parts results window, where equivalent TI cross reference parts are displayed, you can view the parametric data for the specific TI part by clicking on Parametrics, or compare the specific TI part with the original submitted part (when available), by clicking on the “Compare” button.  You can also view parametric information for available parts in the main tool listing of parts, by clicking on the icon under the “Parametrics” column.

Note: Parametric information may not be available for all parts.

Can I save the results of my BOM upload?

Yes, you can export the results of your BOM upload from the main results page, using the “Custom export” button.
