Overview for Multiplexer/Demultiplexer (Mux/Demux)

Digital Switches

Texas Instruments offers a variety of functions in its broad line of Digital Switches. Whether you are searching for a bus, bus exchange, or multiplexer/demultiplexer switch for isolation, translation, or bus-exchange needs, TI's crossbar technology portfolio has the appropriate device for you. Found in the TI Digital Switch portfolio are the CBTLV, CB3Q, and CB3T families, our low-voltage 3.3-V switches, and the general purpose 5-V CBT and CBT-C families.

3.3-V Digital Switch Portfolio

CBTLV
CBTLV devices can be used in multiprocessor systems as fast bus connections, bus-exchange switches for crossbar systems, ping-pong memory connections, or bus-byte swapping. They also can be used to replace relays, improving connect/disconnect speed and eliminating relay-reliability problems. The CBTLV family, designed to operate at 3.3 V, furthers the goal of an integrated system operating with LVTTL voltages. Click to view CBTLV technology

CB3Q
The new CB3Q family provides high-performance, low-power replacements for standard bus-interface devices when signal buffering (current drive) is not required. The CB3Q 2.5V/3.3V low-voltage bus-switch family offers very low and flat on-state resistance, 0 to 5V rail-to-rail input/output (I/O) switching and very low I/O capacitance to minimize data bus capacitive loading and signal distortion. The CB3Q bus switch family offers the features and performance necessary to optimize your system designs. Click to view CB3Q technology

CB3T
The new CB3T family provides high-performance, low-power replacements for standard bus-interface devices when signal buffering (current drive) is not required. The CB3T 2.5V/3.3V bidirectional voltage-translator bus-switch family fully supports mixed-mode signal operation on all data ports, and is ideally suited for mixed 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5.0V system environments. The CB3T bus switch family offers the features and performance necessary to optimize both your mixed-mode signal and power-critical portable system designs. Click to view CB3T technology

5-V Digital Switch Portfolio

CBT
In today's computing market, power and speed are two of the main concerns. CBT can address both of these issues in bus-interface applications. CBT enables a bus-interface device to function as a very fast bus switch, effectively isolating buses when the switch is open and offering very little propagation delay when the switch is closed. These devices can function as high-speed bus interfaces between computer-system components such as the central processing unit (CPU) and memory. CBT devices also can be used as 5-V to 3.3-V translators, allowing designers to mix 5-V or 3.3-V components in the same system. Click to view CBT technology

CBT-C
An improved version of the CBT family, CBT-C offers numerous enhancements including:-2V undershoot protection, faster enable/disable times, Ioff feature for partial-power-down applications, and improved ESD protection. Click to view CBT-C technology
