The TI WiLink 8 Wi-Fi®/Bluetooth®/Bluetooth Smart audio multi-room cape, created in partnership with StreamUnlimited, provides a precise multi-room audio synchronization platform in conjunction with the BeagleBone Black.

Demo

WiLink™ 8 audio demo kit

The WiLink 8 audio demo kit demonstrates an audio solution offered by Texas Instruments in partnership with StreamUnlimited. This kit includes a pair of Sitara™-BeagleBone Black boards and StreamUnlimited multi-room WL1837MOD cape connected to stereo speakers. The audio solution features ultra-precise audio synchronization, multi-room features, support for online music services, UPnP and more. The design is also Apple Airplay™ certifiable and supports Google Cast™ audio.

 

WiLink™ 8 audio demo kit with mesh networking

The mesh networking audio demo kit demonstrates a multi-room audio solution- eliminating the need for an access point to connect each speaker by connecting with one another. The audio is synchronized to provide a seamless listening experience. The design uses a single Bluetooth A2DP audio input stream as the source, which gets simultaneously played to all connected speakers.

The Wireless Connectivity Cape for BeagleBone Black features the WiLink WL1837MOD along with a TI CC2530 SoC to bring Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 802.15.4 all into one convenient cape! It features:

  • Wi-Fi dual-band support on 2.4GHz band (featuring 2x2 MIMO) and antenna diversity on 5GHz band
  • Wi-Fi/Bluetooth (A2DP)/Bluetooth Smart co-ex and multi-role AP/station support

  • All devices such as patient monitoring devices have a great access to the network and are able to communicate among themselves

*We have certified module with MPE report (Maximum permissible exposure) that is 20 cm away from human tissue as well as all conducted/radiated testing. Customers will have to run SAR on the module in order to place it closer than 20 cm to the human tissue; this certification can be done only on the final product since it is constrained to the system level only.
