Stellaris® MCUs for Appliance Applications

Appliances, whether heavy duty white goods, counter top, or robotic, are growing in sophistication and yet have increasing demands on energy use and cost. Stellaris MCUs can support the user interface, motor control, and safety systems. Replacing multiple MCUs with Stellaris not only saves costs, but increases flexibility. With a broad range of parts designed with safety in mind and priced to suit different requirements, the code base can be reused, avoiding expensive design costs in software. Some MCUs include the certified SafeRTOS real time operating system in ROM. In addition, Texas Instruments provides an IEC 60730 Class B Test Library to support its customers in the Class B certification process.

Stellaris Motor and Motion Control Features:

• Motion Control PWMs with deadband and fault detection support safe and efficient operation of motors. High speed ensures cleanest operation.
• QEI (quadrature encoder inputs) support incremental encoders, tachometers, generators/resolvers, TDC detectors.
• High speed ADCs support current measurement using Halls or shunts to adjust algorithms optimally.
• Independent integrated analog comparators can be configured to drive an output or generate an interrupt of ADC event.

• Fully integrated 10/100 Ethernet MAC and PHY
• Hardware assisted IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP)
