New Stellaris® ARM® Cortex™-M4F MCUs

New Stellaris® ARM® Cortex™-M4F MCUs Continuing to empower developers with leading ARM®-based embedded processing solutions, TI now has a new low power, floating-point Stellaris® Cortex™-M4F microcontroller generation. All of the new LM4Fx Stellaris microcontrollers provide floating point for performance headroom and best-in-class power consumption to address portability and power budgets. Developers can also select from a variety of high-performance analog, memory and connectivity options to best satisfy design parameters across a broad range of applications, such as industrial automation, motion control, health and fitness and more. The new Stellaris MCUs are the first Cortex-M-based microcontrollers to be built on 65 nanometer technology, paving the roadmap to higher speeds, larger memory and even lower power. New 220MHz Hercules™ RM48L952 now sampling

The highest performance 220MHz RM48L952 Hercules ARM® Safety MCU devices for medical and industrial safety-critical applications are now sampling. The RM4x series of MCUs are designed for high-performance safety-critical applications and have been developed with the capability to meet the requirements of the IEC 61508 SIL-3 safety standard.

5V tolerant MSP430™ MCU? No problem!

Ideal for capacitive touch, motor control, LED lighting and power management applications, the new MSP430F51x2 series extends TI’s ultra-low power portfolio with a feature rich device, as it provides 2 high precision timers designed for fine measurement or 5V driving applications. Each 16-bit precision timer integrates three capture and compare registers and support of high resolution mode running up to 256MHz, equivalent to 4ns resolution.

New low cost sub-1 GHz value line device family

The sub-1GHz value line family offers developers low-cost connectivity solutions for sub-1 GHz RF applications such as remote controls, toys, home and building automation, and security systems. The CC110L transceiver, CC113L receiver and CC115L transmitter devices are all based on TI’s sub-1GHz CC1101 RF technology, and are pin-, register- and code-compatible, as well as backwards compatible with existing sub-1 GHz systems. In high volume, the value line offers a two-chip, one-way RF link for less than USD $1.00.

Contactless NFC Bootstrap Loader Using MSP430F5529 and TRF7970A

Near Field Communication, or NFC, is a technology which allows contactless communication between devices providing end users with an easier and more convenient way to make transactions. The integration of NFC in next-generation cell phones, laptops, and tablets will provide end users and developers with a complete new range of possibilities to explore. One of the areas of interest during development of such applications is the capability to upgrade firmware in the field, and the purpose of this application report is to explain the implementation of a bootstrap loader (BSL) based on the MSP430F5xx/F6xx devices.

New MSP430 LaunchPad BoosterPacks!

TPL0501EVM is a new BoosterPack based on TI’s TPL0501, a single channel, linear-taper digital potentiometer with 256 wiper positions. This device can be used as a three-terminal potentiometer or as a two-terminal rheostat. The internal registers of the TPL0501 can be accessed using a SPI-compatible interface. Comes with a preprogrammed MSP430™ MCU device with demo code, as well as a PC-based open source GUI. Available now for $20!

TPL0401EVM is a new BoosterPack based on TI’s TPL0401, an I²C bus controlled, single channel, linear-taper digital potentiometer with 128 wiper positions. The position of the wiper can be adjusted using an I²C interface. The part has a 10k end-to-end resistance and can operate with a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. Comes with a preprogrammed MSP430™ MCU device with demo code, as well as a PC-based open source GUI. Available now for $25!

CC430-based Sub-GHz Spectrum Analyzer now available!

The MSP-SA430-SUB1GHZ Spectrum Analyzer is a CC430-based reference design that can be used to implement an easy and affordable tool to jumpstart RF development in the sub GHz frequency range. More and more electronic devices include a built-in RF link. RF transceivers are inexpensive, but the equipment to design and debug such systems is not. The CC430-based spectrum analyzer provides an affordable development tool that reduces the time needed on expensive measurement equipment. The system is recognized as a USB device and is operated from a powerful yet simple graphical user interface that is available for free to download.

New MSP430™ MCU Production Programmer – MSP-GANG

The MSP Gang Programmer is an MSP430 device programmer that can program up to eight identical MSP430 flash or FRAM devices at the same time. The MSP Gang Programmer connects to a host PC using a standard RS-232 or USB connection and provides flexible programming options that allow the user to fully customize the process.
