Continuous Technology Improvement
New
ideas in semiconductor R&D begin in the minds of scientists
and engineers. But that doesn’t mean R&D activities end
once those ideas are turned into products. At Texas Instruments,
we believe that a close working relationship between R&D
and manufacturing is essential to operating a healthy business
in today's competitive environment. From the earliest stages
of research on a new process technology, our manufacturing
specialists are busy making decisions on how to manufacture
leading-edge products using that technology. Even when a process
matures, we continually learn more about how to make it better—and
how to transfer that knowledge to new processes.
TI is closely involved in every aspect of manufacturing science
and technology—from designing and building new fabrication
facilities, to exploring new materials and tools, to developing
new techniques for every stage of product manufacture and
distribution.
Among the key areas of R&D concern are improving yields,
enhancing reliability, and providing smaller, higher-performance
yet more economical packaging. In all of these areas, TI has
proven itself an industry leader, and they have all enabled
us to offer products that meet our customers' requirements.
