))) Texas Instruments Launches Radio Frequency Identification eCommerce Capabilities on www.tiris.com

TI's eStore is the fast and secure way to buy RFID products online

))) CHICAGO, IL (October 6, 2000)

Radio frequency identification (RFID) products from Texas Instruments, Inc. (TI) are now just a mouse click away. TI today announced that it's launching eCommerce capabilities on its web site, www.ti-rfid.com, offering customers an easy, convenient way to purchase its RFID products online.

TI's eStore makes its RFID products more readily available for engineers and systems integrators to evaluate and deploy RFID technology for new applications. Customers begin the process by accessing the TI-RFid™ Web site where they can find downloadable product documents, and then easily click on the eStore to view available products and begin the transaction. Purchases can be made on the secure site using a credit card. TI is initially offering 10 of its field-proven, low frequency, RFID products including transponders, reader modules and a-LF Evaluation Kit for sale online to US customers.

"Our eCommerce initiative makes RFID easily accessible to a wider audience of engineers to create exciting new applications for the technology," said Bill Allen, eMarketing manager, Texas Instruments. "We've seen RFID used for hundreds of different applications from logistics and security to retail and distribution during our 10 years in the industry. We're certain there are engineers and marketers with many more ideas for this inventive technology, but need a way to get started. We're pleased to be taking the lead in inspiring new uses for RFID by making the technology available online," said Allen.

This new venture also involves access to Texas Instruments technical support via email as well as phone support. TI plans in the future to offer additional RFID products for sale online, expand its eCommerce capabilities to international markets and extend the site's functionality.
