Texas Instruments Radio Frequency Identification Systems (TI-RFid™), together with m-commerce partners 2Scoot, FreedomPay and Marconi Commerce Systems, today demonstrated its latest retail automation initiatives at Frontline Solutions 2001 (TI booth #542A), the national conference focused on technology advancements in manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and field service.
Texas Instruments also debuted an RFID-based item-level inventory tracking system, which is being tested by a major clothing retailer for locating items throughout the supply chain - from manufacturing to point-of-sale. In addition, the company announced a family of 13.56 MHz Tag-it™ smart label tags and readers that comply with the ISO/IEC 15693 global standard and the availability of low-cost low frequency and high frequency RFID evaluation kits through the online eStore (www.ti-rfid.com).
"This year we've made exciting advances in our retail applications with both our item-level tracking and m-commerce solutions," said Bill Allen, eMarketing Manager for TI-RFid™. "We're seeing retailers in a variety of industries, from clothing to fast-food restaurants, using RFID technology to provide faster, more efficient customer experiences."
2Scoot is a leading provider of loyalty, rewards and cashless payment services for quick-service restaurants, convenience stores, gas stations, drug stores, grocery stores, and many other large chain retailers. At Frontline Solutions 2001, 2Scoot will demonstrate its customer management system, which fully integrates with the retailer's point-of-sale enabling automatic electronic coupons, customer-specific loyalty programs and strategic multi-merchant alliances. 2Scoot provides customers with a universal, instantaneous, fumble-free way to securely use a credit card when making purchases. Merchants offer their customers an improved shopping experience while building strong brand recognition and increasing store sales.
Texas Instruments is also working with FreedomPay, Inc., a developer of a simple and efficient network to enable cashless purchases coupled with consumer loyalty programs. FreedomPay leverages the Internet to provide a ubiquitous, micro-payment solution for its members and retailers. This week at Frontline Solutions 2001, TI will show FreedomPay's RFID cashless micro-payment system and its new Loyalty Manager software package. The software integrates with FreedomPay's cashless payment and rewards program for quick-service, cafeteria, and vending applications, and provides companies with a seamless way to accept non-cash transactions and administer promotions directly at the point-of-sale. Texas Instruments will also demonstrate FreedomPay's web application (www.freedompay.com), which allows customers to access real-time information on their accounts and track purchases as they are made.
TI-RFid has teamed up with Marconi Commerce Systems, a global integrator of networked payment and data management solutions for retail petroleum and adjacent markets. Marconi is arming merchants with powerful RFID tools that help reduce transaction time and enhance the customer payment experience. At the conference, Marconi will show its new Mat Reader, which provides hassle-free RFID-enabled payment to consumers for in-store purchases. Marconi will also demonstrate its TRIND technology for pay-at-the-pump purchases, and its Drive-Thru Reader which allow customers to pay outside the store without swiping a credit card, signing a receipt, entering a PIN code, or making change.
