Texas Instruments Radio Frequency Identification (TI-RFid) Systems, a leading provider of RFID systems used in applications worldwide, today announced that Lenel Systems International, Inc., a global innovator and technology leader in the security industry, will resell Texas Instruments' new line of 13.56 MHz RFID vicinity cards and readers for access control applications under the Lenel brand name. Lenel will sell TI-RFid™ cards and readers as part of its Total Security Knowledge Management Solutions, the industry's most comprehensive range of security solutions that enable customers to maximize their IT and infrastructure investments and effectively manage people, property and assets.
The agreement between Texas Instruments RFID Systems and Lenel Systems International brings to market secure RFID access control solutions that are fully compliant with the ISO 15693 vicinity card standard and incorporate the advanced capabilities of 13.56 MHz technology, including unique and secure identification, two-way read/write communication and user programmability, at a price comparable to traditional proximity cards. Texas Instruments RFID Systems will demonstrate its access control cards and readers together with a Lenel controller system at the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) International trade show (Booth #3109).
"Lenel is excited about the expansion of our relationship with Texas Instruments," stated Robert Pethick, manager of hardware platforms for Lenel Systems International. "The innovative product design, market strategy and implementation are what the access control industry needs for technology leaders and their customers. We look forward to building a stronger alliance with Texas Instruments which deliver emerging technology solutions to our customers."
"Our strategic agreement with Lenel will accelerate end-user awareness of the benefits of secure13.56 MHZ access control solutions and make it easy for organizations to implement the technology," said Rick Heimann, access control program manager, Texas Instruments RFID Systems.
TI-RFid™'s line of 13.56 MHz access control cards and readers offer increased security and authentication, enhanced memory for storing multiple applications on a single card and compatibility with current mag stripe systems. TI-RFid™'s line of 13.56 MHZ vicinity cards incorporate a unique, factory-programmed ID, which cannot be duplicated, ensuring that no two cards or people are misidentified. Using the 2000 bits of memory, facilities managers can program and print the cards on-site with additional information such as sequence numbers, facility codes and authorization codes. The added data capacity also allows use of the cards beyond facility access for other solutions such as time and attendance, employee certifications, emergency medical histories, wireless financial transactions and biometrics information. On-site user programmability and integration with direct card printer applications provides additional flexibility and saves money because customers can order cards when they need them, and program/print them on demand.
TI's S6400 series readers offer an enhanced read range, faster data transfer rate and compatibility with the RS-485 two-way communications protocol, allowing data to be read and written to cards so that they can be updated automatically with new information rather than requiring new badges or cards to be issued. TI's 13.56 MHz access control product roadmap also provides a clear and easy technology migration to ISO 14443 standards for emerging stored-value and wireless payment applications.
