))) Texas Instruments RFid Systems Signs OEM Agreement With Open Options Inc. for 13.56 MHz Access Control Solutions

))) DALLAS, TX (October 29, 2003)

Texas Instruments Radio Frequency Identification (TI-RFid™) Systems, a leading provider of RFID systems used in applications worldwide, today announced that Carrollton, Texas-based Open Options Inc., will resell Texas Instruments' line of 13.56 MHz contactless RFID vicinity cards and readers for access control applications.

Open Options will offer TI-RFid™ cards and readers as part of its line of access control products which includes its NPower DNA™ security management software. The NPower DNA open software system runs on a Microsoft platform and can be scaled to answer specific customer needs such as integrating human resources, IT and contractor databases into one cohesive system. Among its many features, the software can monitor alarms, trace an individual's card usage, and monitor and assign access to specific doors throughout a facility.

“Our agreement with TI allows us to offer our growing array of customers a customizable RFID-based access control solution with many more features at a price that's comparable to traditional proximity solutions ,” said Brent Doherty, product manager, Open Options Inc.

TI-RFid™ access control solutions are compliant with the ISO 15693 standard and incorporate the advanced capabilities of 13.56 MHz technology, including unique and secure identification, two-way, read/write communication, user programmability, and enhanced memory for storing multiple applications on a single card. In addition to vicinity badges, TI manufactures tags in a variety of forms including keyfobs and labels. Several TI-RFid™ readers are available including wall-plate, mullion, long-range and keypad readers.

All of the company's ISO 15693 tags have faster data transfer and a 40 percent longer read range than traditional proximity cards. They contain a unique tamperproof ID code and can be encoded and encrypted to support universal Wiegand formats and RS 232/485 protocols. In addition, the user can define DES encryption keys and control their own card programming.

“Our companies share a similar philosophy when it comes to offering open architecture access control products that the market is seeking,” said Kelly Stark, access control business manager, TI-RFid™ Systems.
