IP Based Video Conferencing Endpoint

Overview:
Video conferencing Conferencing Endpoints are terminals used to make point to point video-enabled calls. Video conferencing consists of an input camera and base unit interfaced to an output display. Data transmission is over IP or ISDN networks. The base unit consists of a DSP with integrated on-chip video ports to process audio and video encoding/decoding.

The core subsystems include:

  • Video Processor
    - Performs real-time image capture processing, compression/decompression, color space conversion, real time display, and data packetization for data communication over the IP/ISDN networks.

  • Video Decoder
    - Digitizes, demodulates, and decodes the NTSC/PAL/SECAM/S- video to be used by the video processor.

  • Video Encoder
    - Converts digital component video signals into the analog domain for display.

  • Memory (FLASH & SDRAM)
    - Stores executing code and data/parameters.

  • Audio Interface (Voice Codec)
    - Interfaces the microphone/speaker and uses a Codec to digitize audio signals.

  • Network Interface (Ethernet PHY Transceiver)
    - Transmits and receives audio and video data packets through the IP/ISDN networks.

  • ARM9 (or suitable GPP)
    - Moderates Input/Output between the Microphone, Speaker, Keyboard and the Digital Signal Processor.
