Description

The next generation of weather and air traffic control RADAR systems faces unique challenges as systems become more complex. Traditionally these weather radar systems have relied on cavity or tube power amplifiers to transmit relatively simple pulse waveforms. Limitations in data converter sampling speed have resulted in the implementation of complex RF conversion stages to generate and receive high speed waveforms within each system. TI products and reference designs help designers meet the demands of weather radar systems.

  • TI Designs reference designs showcase direct synthesis of L and S-bands for a smaller, less complex RF conversion stage using TIs high speed analog to digital converters (ADCs) and digital to analog converters (DACs)
  • Multicore DSP and ARM® processors enable reduced board size and simplified PCB layout in high speed serial lanes using JESD204B interface
  • Data converter front ends with fully differential amplifiers (FDAs) demonstrate small, DC coupled, buffered alternatives to tradition balun-based systems
