3.3V Input -0.5V/0.9A Output Synchronous Buck-Boost Reference Design

PMP9166

Design files

Overview

This reference design uses the TPS54218 in a synchronous buck-boost configuration to generate a negative 0.5V output from a 3.3V input. Switching at 1MHz, the total solution size is extremely compact. An external LM4040 reference provides a precision pull-up voltage and is necessary to regulate the output at a voltage level that is lower than the internal reference of the controller.
